| ANC parliamentary chief whip Tony Yengeni,
published a full page advertisement in four Sunday newspapers last weekend. In it, he
professed is innocence in matters relating to the arms deal, currently been probed.
Attempting to explain the considerable delay in financing his 4x4 which he seems to have
acquired under interesting circumstances, he said that he had applied for finance from one
institution, had been refused after an inordinate amount of time, and had then been
granted a facility by another wheels bank. The first institution has denied ever having
received an application. Already, the R250 000 add campaign lacks creditability and one
wonders whether whoever paid for it is feeling all that happy. What ever Yengeni does now
will be treated with huge scepticism, and the ANC must surely realise that he is a
liability. |
