Professional Experience

During the period 1973-1976, Tony Twine worked for the Cape Performing Arts Board in the production department, a direction that he pursued part time for a while after leaving their employment.

He then became Senior Planner at Mobil SA (Pty.) Ltd, an organisation which was on par with the company's divisions in Europe and the rest of the developing world. He left Mobil to join Datsun Nissan (Pty.) Ltd. in 1979 where he progressed to Market Research Manager.

He has contributed many articles to Reuters, Intelligence Magazine, Professional Management Review, Mail & Guardian and the South Africa Journal of International Trade & Investment. He contributes daily political analysis to the Standard & Poor’s MMS service.

In 1983 he established Marketing Environments (Pty) Ltd, an independent consultancy company which largely specialised in consulting on the motor and related industries.

Tony Twine joined forces with Econometrix in 1984.

Other Appointments

In 1996 he was appointed to the Board of the Road Accident Fund.

Areas of Focus

Tony Twine is responsible for analyses and forecasts on the automotive and liquid fuel sectors and undertakes a wide range of sectoral/market studies, mostly in industrial markets.
